A geo-ontology to support the semantic integration of geoinformation from the National Spatial Data Infrastructure

چکیده
The profusion of geoinformation and the diversity of providers increasingly demand availability of integrated geoinformation. The Brazilian National Spatial Data Infrastructure (INDE) and the Web 2.0 technologies provide the existence of such solutions. In this context, geoinformation needs to be discovered and processed, seamlessly and semantically interoperable through the services offered by INDE, independently of the existing technological arrangement. It is essential to have an information model that represents the involved concepts, their characteristics and their relationships. The development of a geo-ontology, in order to consolidate aspects of spatial metadata, spatial features and geographic names, is the challenge addressed by this work.

A Faceted Ontology for a Semantic Geo-Catalogue
Geo-spatial applications need to provide powerful search capabilities to support users in their daily activities. However, discovery services are often limited by only syntactically matching user terminology to metadata describing geographical resources. We report our work on the implementation of a geographical catalogue, and corresponding semantic extension, for the spatial data infrastructur...
متن کاملDeveloping a BIM-based Spatial Ontology for Semantic Querying of 3D Property Information
With the growing dominance of complex and multi-level urban structures, current cadastral systems, which are often developed based on 2D representations, are not capable of providing unambiguous spatial information about urban properties. Therefore, the concept of 3D cadastre is proposed to support 3D digital representation of land and properties and facilitate the communication of legal owners...

The European Community faces the growing need for available, reliable and interoperable geo-data, in the frame of the establishment of the future European Spatial Data Infrastructure. The need for harmonised geoinformation is therefore becoming a key topic in geosciences and geo-data users and producers. Putting INSPIRE principles into practice and following the developments of GMES, the HUMBOL...

متن کاملOntologies for Disaster Management Response
Increasing numbers of natural disasters and man-made disasters, such as earthquakes, tsunamis, floods, air crashes, etc., have posed a challenge to the public and demonstrated the importance of disaster management. The success of disaster management, amongst all, largely depends on finding and successfully integrating related information to make decisions during the response phase. This informa...
